01 Interaction with psilocybin

Blunting common; low serotonin syndrome risk; long elimination half-life (norfluoxetine). The olanzapine-fluoxetine combination (Symbyax) contains an antipsychotic. With LSD, more than 3 weeks of an SSRI or trazodone reduced or eliminated the response in 28 of 32 people (Bonson 1996).

Most clinical trials required discontinuation beforehand (Tap 2025); one trial gave psilocybin alongside a continued SSRI (Goodwin 2023). Whether to change the medication is the prescriber's decision.

Serotonergic
Increases serotonin activity, for example by blocking its reuptake or releasing it. Psilocybin acts on serotonin receptors, so effects can add together. With antidepressant use, the psilocybin response can be weaker. Sources [1]
