Clinical data and state rules are separate facts. Both are shown; neither is a decision.

01 Interaction with psilocybin

OL · CR · XP

Effects often blunted (downregulated 5-HT2A); serotonin syndrome risk low. CYP inhibition not clinically relevant to psilocin. With LSD, more than 3 weeks of an SSRI or trazodone reduced or eliminated the response in 28 of 32 people (Bonson 1996).

Human data with psilocybin
Human studies with psilocybin
Common practice
Most clinical trials required discontinuation beforehand (Tap 2025); one trial gave psilocybin alongside a continued SSRI (Goodwin 2023). Whether to change the medication is the prescriber's decision.

02 Pharmacology relevant to psilocybin

2 listed · counted on reports
Withdrawal or rebound if stopped abruptly
Stopping suddenly can cause withdrawal or a rebound of symptoms. Any change to the dose is the prescriber’s decision. Sources [1]
Serotonergic
Increases serotonin activity, for example by blocking its reuptake or releasing it. Psilocybin acts on serotonin receptors, so effects can add together. With antidepressant use, the psilocybin response can be weaker. Sources [1]
